[The Kyunghyang Shinmun] GOLFZON County’s Caddie Training Program Helping North Korean Defectors Settle Makes Smooth Progress

The Kyunghyang Shinmun reported that GOLFZON County held a completion ceremony for the 3rd class of eight North Korean defectors in its caddie training program. The newspaper noted that the program, jointly run by the GOLFZON Yuwon Group and the Korea Hana Foundation under the Ministry of Unification, has placed a total of 17 North Korean defectors as full-fledged caddies at five GOLFZON County golf courses nationwide since the first class produced four graduates in 2015, and that 16 participants took part in the training for the 3rd class before eight were finally selected through theory and practical tests. It added that over the 12-week training course, participants completed not only basic caddie training such as golf rules, course knowledge, and cart operation, but also standard-Korean speech training and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) education.

The Kyunghyang Shinmun reported that the graduates would be assigned to a golf course of their choice among the five courses—Anseong Q, Anseong H, Anseong W, Sunwoon, and Cheongtong.

The Kyunghyang Shinmun reported that GOLFZON County is steadily carrying on its caddie training program, which supports the social settlement and job creation of North Korean defectors, thereby putting its social contribution activities into practice.
