The Korea Times reported that GOLFZON has declared its full-scale entry into the Asian market by installing screen golf simulators in Terminal 2 of Hong Kong International Airport. According to the article, GOLFZON, in partnership with local Hong Kong company GreenLive, unveiled two Vision systems and GDR simulators at the airport, signaling its strategic intent to use Hong Kong as a bridgehead for tapping into the Asian market.
The article noted that even before the airport installation, GOLFZON had been operating two indoor driving ranges in Lai Chi Kok and Kwun Tong, and that the airport location became its third base in Hong Kong. It reported that GOLFZON holds more than 80% of the domestic screen golf market, was operating over 5,000 outlets in Korea at the time, and posted a 100.6% year-on-year increase in operating profit in the second quarter of 2015.
The report stated that GOLFZON, recognizing the saturation of the domestic market, was already exporting its products to more than 30 countries across Asia, North America, and Europe, and had continued to develop technologies that lower barriers to entry under the philosophy that “golf should no longer be a sport reserved for the wealthy.”
