GOLFZON Co., Ltd. (Co-CEOs Park Kang-soo and Choi Deok-hyung) announced on the 26th that, through a business partnership with Lawson Entertainment Inc. (CEO Akihito Watanabe), it had opened a directly operated ‘UNITED GOLFZON PARK’ store under a new screen golf brand in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, on the 15th.
To fully enter and expand into the Japanese golf simulator market, GOLFZON signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Japan’s Lawson Entertainment in April 2023 to pursue a new screen golf brand business. Lawson Entertainment operates United Cinemas, a well-known movie theater franchise in Japan, as a subsidiary, and through this business partnership GOLFZON has opened the ‘UNITED GOLFZON PARK’ store, directly operated by Lawson Entertainment, at Sapporo Factory, a complex cultural space located in Sapporo.
‘UNITED GOLFZON PARK’ spans roughly 120 pyeong and is equipped with TWOVISION, GOLFZON’s flagship screen golf system. To allow beginners to start without any burden, the store stocks golf equipment such as clubs, shoes, and gloves and provides a rental service. It also offers snacks and beverages, and was finished with a clean yet open interior so that guests can enjoy screen golf in a relaxed atmosphere.
The ‘UNITED GOLFZON PARK’ opening ceremony held on December 15 was attended by GOLFZON CEO Choi Deok-hyung and Lawson Entertainment CEO Akihito Watanabe, who came together to wish success for the new screen golf brand business. The opening ceremony featured an opening event attended by Suzuran Yamauchi, a well-known golf influencer and former AKB48 member regarded as the No. 1 idol golfer in Japan’s entertainment industry, generating great enthusiasm in promoting screen golf. A lesson event by pro Momoka Miura, who has competed on the JLPGA (Japan Ladies Professional Golfers’ Association) tour, is also scheduled to follow.
GOLFZON CEO Choi Deok-hyung said, “It is meaningful to launch a new screen golf business in the Japanese market together with Lawson Entertainment,” adding, “Through the synergy between Lawson Entertainment’s accumulated marketing know-how and GOLFZON’s TWOVISION screen golf system and ‘my Practice’ global lesson program, we expect to successfully operate ‘UNITED GOLFZON PARK’ and accelerate the growth of the screen golf industry in Japan.”
