The Yuwon Golf Foundation (Chairman Kim Young-chan) is cultivating global golf talent by supporting domestic golf prospects’ participation in international tournaments.

The Yuwon Golf Foundation selected eight aspiring young golfers and fully supported their participation in the qualifying rounds of the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship and the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, held on the 2nd (local time) at Poipu Bay GC in Hawaii.

Since 2017, the Yuwon Golf Foundation has run a program to support participation in international tournaments so that aspiring young golfers can broaden their horizons and, based on that experience, grow into talent with global competitiveness. In particular, this year the foundation expanded the scale of the program by increasing the number of supported players to a total of eight.

The foundation fully covered expenses worth around 40 million won, including airfare, accommodation, practice and tournament entry fees, and vehicle provision, and assigned a professional coach to help the players adapt to local conditions. The coach provided systematic support to improve performance, closely checking turf conditions, the short game, pre-shot routines, and more. The foundation also plans to fully cover the main-event entry fee for any player who advances to the main event.

The qualifying round held on the 2nd featured this year’s selected male and female amateur players—Kim Logan (16), Kim Si-heon (18), Lim Tae-young (17), Jung Jo-guk (15), Kang Yeon-jin (13), Kim Seo-a (13), Danjela Chanel (16), and Yoo Seung-eun (18)—who fully displayed the skills they had honed.

As a result of the qualifier, Lim Tae-young maintained his focus through the final round and finished in a tie for first place, securing a spot in the main event. The other players also revealed their potential, showing composed and spirited performances even in an unfamiliar environment. The main event of the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, in which Lim Tae-young will compete, will be held from July 21 to 26 at Trinity Forest GC in Dallas, Texas.

Lim Tae-young said, “I am grateful to the Yuwon Golf Foundation for providing a meaningful opportunity to gain experience by competing in an international tournament. I will do my best to achieve good results in the main event as well, and I will work hard to grow into an even better golfer by using this experience as a stepping stone.”

Kim Young-chan, Chairman of the Yuwon Golf Foundation, said, “I hope this support serves as a springboard for future golf talent to grow into world-class players,” adding, “The Yuwon Golf Foundation will continue to spare no interest and support so that players with potential can nurture their dreams.”

Meanwhile, this sponsorship was carried out by selecting a total of eight players—four men and four women with high potential for development—who were recommended through open selection trials held by specialized golf academy institutions.
