Media Coverage China

Xinhuanet reported that the 2022 National Indoor Youth Golf Open has come to a close. The article explained that, as part of the China Golf Association’s public golf series, around 500 youth players from across the country took part, competing in two sections, GOLFZON and Ruge, at approximately 100 golf venues in Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Dalian and other cities.

It reported that the top three players in Group A would earn recommendation eligibility for the China Golf Association’s Star Tream team, while the top three in each group would receive wildcards for the 2023 outdoor competitions. The article highlighted as a key feature the way the event was operated through technology using a “cloud competition, cloud officiating and cloud broadcasting” approach, and stated that by integrating simulator golf venue resources nationwide, the event helped overcome the difficulties of training and participation caused by a shortage of outdoor courses and contributed to expanding the base of youth golf.

It reported that this competition publicized the low entry barrier, low cost and eco-friendly characteristics of indoor simulator golf, serving as an opportunity for more people to take up the sport.
