Pro golfer Sung Yu-jin and her support association donate KRW 10 million in scholarship funds to the Yuwon Golf Foundation to nurture future golfers
- To help spread a culture of giving, golfer Sung Yu-jin and her support association voluntarily set aside funds to nurture golf talent
- The donation jointly raised by Sung Yu-jin and her support association is being given for a second consecutive year to the Yuwon Golf Foundation (Chairman Kim Young-chan), which leads efforts to develop golf talent

The Yuwon Golf Foundation (Chairman Kim Young-chan) announced on the 16th that it had received a KRW 10 million scholarship to nurture golf talent from Sung Yu-jin (25, Daebang Construction), a three-time winner on the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour, and her support association (President Won Jong-taek).
Following last year, Sung Yu-jin and her support association again donated a scholarship this year to the Yuwon Golf Foundation, a global institution for developing golf talent. The scholarship delivered to the Yuwon Golf Foundation was jointly prepared by Sung Yu-jin and her support association to help spread a culture of giving, and it will be used to nurture junior golfers who, inspired by Sung Yu-jin, dream of making their mark on the global stage.
The donation presentation ceremony was held on the 15th, attended by Park Young-jun, team leader of the Yuwon Golf Foundation, and Won Jong-taek, president of the Sung Yu-jin support association. President Won Jong-taek shared his thoughts on the donation, saying, “I hope this donation will be of some small help to the growth and development of promising young golfers, and we will continue to practice the value of sharing together with Sung Yu-jin going forward.”
Including this donation, Sung Yu-jin has now delivered scholarships to nurture future golfers to the Yuwon Golf Foundation three times. After claiming her first victory at the KLPGA Tour Lotte Open in June 2022, she presented a KRW 20 million scholarship, and over the past two years she has donated a meaningful scholarship totaling KRW 20 million raised together with her support association. Having delivered a total of KRW 40 million in support funds to date to help young talents who will drive Korean golf forward, Sung Yu-jin has established herself as a “giving angel” of the golf world.
Sung Yu-jin said, “With a heart full of gratitude toward the Yuwon Golf Foundation, which has supported me from my youth until now, I planned this donation in the hope of contributing to discovering and developing golf talent,” adding, “I hope that junior players, too, can grow in a stable environment with the support of the Yuwon Golf Foundation’s various sponsorship programs.”
Kim Young-chan, chairman of the Yuwon Golf Foundation, said, “Reflecting on the meaningful significance of this support, the Yuwon Golf Foundation will do its utmost to ensure that this donation is put to good use in nurturing outstanding juniors who, like Sung Yu-jin, possess both skill and a warm heart,” and added, “We sincerely thank Sung Yu-jin and the members of her support association for their continued warmth toward the Yuwon Golf Foundation.”
Meanwhile, as a result of the discovery and development of golf talent it has carried out over the past decade, the Yuwon Golf Foundation has established a virtuous cycle in which players who received the foundation’s support donate in turn for the benefit of junior golfers. Following Choi Hye-jin’s donation in 2019 and Sung Yu-jin’s donation in 2022, in 2024 Sung Yu-jin, Lee Je-young, and Jang Yu-bin continued their donations to the Yuwon Golf Foundation. The Yuwon Golf Foundation plans to provide a variety of support this year as well, helping to raise the standing of Korean golf.
