GOLFZON China (CEO Park Seong-bong) announced on the 2nd that its ‘GOLFZON China 2024 Core Business Strategy,’ unveiled last month, has generated significant interest across mainland China and has been covered by major Chinese state media outlets.

Major local Chinese media outlets such as People’s Daily, China Daily and Xinhua News Agency took note of GOLFZON China’s business strategy announcement, which aligns closely with the Chinese government’s sports-related policy proposals and the market trend of ‘digital industrialization,’ and gave it prominent coverage over roughly a week beginning late last month.

Through major policy announcements and other measures, China regards the digital industrialization of sports as an important pillar of the national economy capable of driving domestic economic activity. In its ‘National Fitness Plan for 2021-2025′ and the ’14th Five-Year Plan for Sports Development’ announced in 2021, China emphasizes improving public health and developing the sports industry, and in the ‘Outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development of the People’s Republic of China and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035,’ it announced measures to promote ‘digital industrialization’ by accelerating digital development and infrastructure.

Building on this Chinese market environment and policy framework, GOLFZON China announced its 2024 core business strategy. Its key components are △the ‘portable golf simulator,’ a digital sports device; △’GOLFZON PARK’ and ‘CITY GOLF,’ digital golf venues; and △hosting the ‘GOLFZON CHINA OPEN,’ a screen golf tournament that is a digital golf competition.

To widely spread screen golf culture—one form of digital sports—to the general public who find it difficult to take up golf, GOLFZON China launched the ‘portable golf simulator’ last year. This has enabled Chinese consumers to experience golf anytime and anywhere, unconstrained by time, space, climate or environment.

To expand the supply of golf-related digital venues, the company plans to continue growing its roughly 80 GOLFZON PARK screen golf franchise locations currently in China, and is preparing to launch ‘CITY GOLF,’ a hybrid golf course combining screen and field play, to offer a new golf space and experience.

In addition, since 2022 the company has hosted the screen golf tournament ‘GOLFZON CHINA OPEN’ to promote screen golf in China and expand the golfing population. The 2022 GOLFZON CHINA OPEN, with a total prize pool of 1.2 million yuan (approximately KRW 200 million), drew more than 5,000 participants, and the 2023 event, which grew to a total prize pool of 2.5 million yuan (approximately KRW 400 million), attracted more than 10,000 participants.

Meanwhile, since its first overseas expansion in 2009, GOLFZON now supplies golf simulator products perfected with unrivaled technology to more than 1,200 screen golf stores worldwide, including some 640 in Japan, 230 in China, 190 in the Americas, 70 in Vietnam, and 100 in other countries.
