GOLFZON Announces 2022 North American Tournament
North America’s largest virtual golf competition, held across 36 commercial facilities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico
STERLING, Virginia — GOLFZON, the global market-share leader in golf simulators, announced that it will host the 2022 Golfzon North American Tournament, sponsored by Troon Golf, and encouraged golfers of all skill levels to participate. The tournament runs at participating facilities from Wednesday, May 25 through June 25.
Billed as the largest virtual golf event in the Western Hemisphere, this competition takes place at 36 commercial facilities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. GOLFZON expects more than 4,000 rounds of simulated golf to be played over the course of the tournament.
The tournament is open to any home or commercial facility equipped with GOLFZON Vision software and is played in Golfzon Live Festival (GLF) game mode. Competition takes the form of individual stroke play on a simulated course that recreates the Kiawah Island Ocean Course, well known as the host of the 2021 PGA Championship.
Participants must complete at least one 18-hole round during the tournament period and may submit as many rounds as they wish. Scores are posted in real time on the global GOLFZON tournament page.
Participants compete for more than $10,000 in total individual prizes. The overall winner will receive a TaylorMade Stealth driver and a Troon Golf National Foursome card valued at $999. Prizes will also be awarded in a variety of categories, including Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin.
Tommy Lim, CEO of GOLFZON America, said, “The North American Tournament is a great opportunity to have fun with friends and family while competing against golfers from all over North America,” adding, “For any golfer who has not yet experienced a round on a GOLFZON simulator, we hope this tournament will let them see firsthand why GOLFZON products are regarded as the most innovative and realistic simulators available.”
According to the National Golf Foundation, more than 12 million golfers used off-course facilities in 2020, and this trend continues to grow alongside an influx of new golfers. Behind this rising participation is the adoption of golf simulators by bars, restaurants, and dedicated entertainment venues, allowing golfers of all skill levels to enjoy golf comfortably and without pressure in a relaxed setting.
GOLFZON was recognized as the best golf simulator by Golf Digest from 2017 through 2021. Its signature differentiating features include a patented eight-directional hydraulic swing plate with 360-degree directional movement adjustable to any lie, an automatic tee-up function, and a multi-surface hitting mat that replicates fairway, rough, and bunker conditions.
