Detroit Tee Times Wins GOLFZON Tour Season 2 Championship
CHANTILLY, Virginia, USA — GOLFZON announced that Detroit’s Tee Times defeated Toronto’s Golfplay 4&3 in the GOLFZON Tour Season 2 final to claim the $300,000 winner’s prize. Tee Times prevailed over 72 competing teams from around the world to become the second GOLFZON Tour Championship winner.
Last year’s runner-up, Tee Times trailed by two holes through the first five holes of the three-on-three aggregate stroke-play championship match held at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island, but then seized momentum by winning five of the following six holes.
Tee Times’ Brandon Barrows said, “Because we came so close to winning last year, we had even greater motivation this year. We were down two holes in the semifinal as well before coming back, and the same was true in this final. We got off to a poor start, but we found our rhythm from the 12th hole. I’m truly delighted that we finally did it this year.”
Tee Times carried their momentum forward by building up meaningful results throughout the season. Barrows won the individual event held at The Ocean Course at Hokuala in July with a 17-under-par score, and the team earned medalist honors by posting a combined 85-under-par in the qualifying stage. In the semifinal, they avenged last year’s final defeat against defending champion Golf Envy with a 2&1 victory.
Dean Schneider, GOLFZON Tournament Director, said, “Tee Times is a more than worthy champion of GOLFZON Tour Season 2. The outstanding performance they showed throughout the entire tournament carried them to the top even amid fierce international competition.” He added, “GOLFZON Tour Season 2 grew in terms of both international scalability and innovative technology. By leveraging GOLFZON’s network play capabilities, we expanded participation from 12 teams to 72 teams and made real-time matches across continents possible. In Season 3, we plan to advance the tournament even further by adding more innovations.”
A total of 72 teams from around the world took part in GOLFZON Tour Season 2. The GOLFZON Tour is a competition that extends GOLFZON’s experience and achievements in operating GTOUR — through which it has paid out more than $12 million in prize money domestically — onto the global stage.
