Yuwon Golf Foundation Provides KRW 100 Million to Cover International Tournament Entry Costs for Promising Young Golfers

The Yuwon Golf Foundation (Chairman Kim Young-chan) has stepped up its efforts to nurture global golf talent by fully covering approximately KRW 100 million in international tournament participation expenses for promising young golfers.

The Yuwon Golf Foundation selected eight aspiring young golfers and is fully supporting their participation in the qualifying and main rounds of the ‘2026 US Junior Amateur Championship’ and the ‘2026 US Girls’ Junior Championship,’ held on the 1st (local time) at Poipu Bay GC in Hawaii.

Since 2017, the Yuwon Golf Foundation has run an international tournament participation support program to help aspiring young golfers broaden their horizons through participation in global competitions and, based on that experience, grow into talents with world-class competitiveness. This year, a total of eight players were selected — Kim Min-gi (19), Park Jae-hyun (18), Yoo Min-hyuk (18), and Heo Seung-wan (16) in the men’s division, and Kim Seo-a (14), Lee Ye-won (18), Shin Yu-young (17), and Shin Hae-in (18) in the women’s division — and Yoo Min-hyuk and Kim Seo-a advanced directly to the main draw after meeting the conditions for a qualifying exemption.

The Foundation fully covered approximately KRW 100 million in expenses, including airfare, accommodations, entry fees for practice tournaments, and vehicle provision, and assigned professional coaches to help the players adapt to the local environment. The accompanying coaches closely reviewed turf conditions, short games, pre-shot routines, and more, providing systematic support to enhance the players’ performance.

As a result of the qualifying matches held on the 1st, Kim Min-gi in the men’s division and Shin Hae-in in the women’s division demonstrated outstanding performances and secured their tickets to the main draw. The other players who competed also proved their potential with composed game management and aggressive play, even in an unfamiliar competitive environment.

The main draw of the ‘2026 US Girls’ Junior Championship,’ in which Kim Seo-a and Shin Hae-in will compete, will be held from July 13 to 18 at Old Chatham GC in Durham, North Carolina. Kim Min-gi and Yoo Min-hyuk will then compete in the main draw of the ‘US Junior Amateur Championship,’ to be held from July 20 to 25 at Saucon Valley CC in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Kim Min-gi, who passed the qualifier for the ‘2026 US Junior Amateur Championship,’ said, “I am grateful to the Yuwon Golf Foundation for providing an environment where I could fully concentrate on my game,” adding, “I will do my best in the main draw to achieve good results, and based on this experience, I will continue to develop into an even better player.”

This sponsorship was carried out by selecting a total of eight players with high growth potential — four each in the men’s and women’s divisions — recommended through selection trials by specialized golf academy institutions.

The two tournaments in which the aspiring young golfers competed with the support of the Yuwon Golf Foundation are prestigious stages where the world’s top players have competed. At the ‘US Junior Amateur Championship,’ a storied tournament established in 1948, golf legend Tiger Woods achieved a three-peat from 1991 to 1993, and Jordan Spieth and Scottie Scheffler also appear on the list of champions. In addition, the ‘US Girls’ Junior Championship,’ established in 1949, has likewise crowned players who represent the world of women’s golf, including Nancy Lopez, Amy Alcott, and Park In-bee.
