GOLFZON PARK Team Challenge 2024 Returns

Drawing on its proven competition operation expertise, GOLFZON China has continuously hosted a wide range of indoor golf tournaments. In particular, unlike conventional golf tournaments centered on professional players, the company has built a structure that allows broad participation by everyday golf enthusiasts and younger generations, and it has drawn strong interest from the golf industry through more flexible and enjoyable formats and generous prize pools.

With the arrival of the new year, the ‘GOLFZON PARK National Team Challenge’ hosted by GOLFZON China is set to get fully underway as well. This year’s tournament has been upgraded in both scale and operating format. The 2024 GOLFZON PARK National Team Challenge maintains the existing online-offline integrated operating model while expanding the tournament’s scale to the East China, North China, and South China regions.

The tournament is operated so that top players from across the country gather in one place after going through regional qualifiers, with fiercer nationwide team competition expected to unfold. Based on tallies to date, the East China region will feature 29 GOLFZON PARK stores across five areas—Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Hubei, and Zhejiang. The North China region will see more than 34 GOLFZON PARK stores participate across seven areas—Beijing, Tianjin, Jilin, Liaoning, Shanxi, and Shandong—while the South China region is also set to involve more than 11 stores, centered on Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guangdong (including the southwest). This year’s tournament is operated in a staged format that proceeds through city- and region-level qualifiers to the national finals. Through this, GOLFZON China plans to present an indoor golf team tournament on a scale among the largest in the industry. The tournament’s expansion holds significance not only as a simple increase in event scale but also in terms of strengthening brand strategy.

Unlike typical indoor golf brands, GOLFZON China has grown on the basis of a strong ‘tournament DNA,’ operating various forms of golf events and tournaments every month. GOLFZON China explained that sports events are an important platform for expanding brand experience on the back of high participation and interest.

At the same time, the company added that operating tournaments is also a process through which its brand competitiveness and operational capabilities are validated. GOLFZON China explained that tournaments allow it to naturally showcase members’ play and golf culture itself. Participants directly convey the appeal of golf through repeated matches and swings, and this experience plays a role in embedding the brand more naturally within the customer experience, the company explained.

In addition, the GOLFZON PARK Team Challenge is creating strong synergy from a store operation perspective as well. GOLFZON China explained that GOLFZON PARK stores serve as community platforms where members share their skills and interact, going beyond simply being indoor golf spaces. The analysis is that regular and repeated tournament operation strengthens members’ sense of belonging and community cohesion while also having a positive impact on members’ motivation to practice and their skill improvement.

Each GOLFZON PARK store is also providing a sports experience that connects online and offline through the tournaments. By operating various events and programs, the stores aim to boost the loyalty of existing members while also expecting an effect of attracting new customers.

GOLFZON China plans to create an environment through the 2024 tournament in which more golf enthusiasts can participate. Based on current plans, the national finals offline tournament is expected to be at a scale of about 200 people, and regional qualifiers are also projected to draw more participants than the previous year.

The participation conditions are also being run more broadly. All GOLFZON PARK members can apply to participate, and participants are provided with a variety of prizes and benefits at the head-office level. In addition, team uniforms and supplementary support benefits for each tournament are also offered, and those advancing to the national finals will be provided with participation costs and dinner invitations, as well as flight and accommodation support benefits for top-performing players.

By continuously lowering the barriers to participation, GOLFZON China expects that younger and more diverse golf enthusiasts will naturally flow into the GOLFZON and GOLFZON PARK communities. The company is also paying attention to the potential for the 2024 National Team Challenge to grow into a representative amateur golf event in China’s golf industry on the strength of a broad participation base.

GOLFZON China believes this Team Challenge can also serve as a collaboration platform with brands across various industries. In particular, it explained that, based on the characteristics of offline, on-site sports events and a participation structure centered on young consumers, the event can become a new sports marketing space where brands can communicate directly with customers.

Conducted on an even larger scale, the 2024 GOLFZON PARK National Team Challenge is entering its full schedule amid the participation of various GOLFZON PARK stores and members. GOLFZON China stated that it will create a new consumption and marketing model based on sports events together with partners across various industry sectors.
