In July 2024, the ‘2024 Liang Wenchong (梁文冲) Holiday Public-Welfare Golf Class,’ hosted by Realize Sports (实现体育), officially gets underway. Participating for the first time this year as an official operating partner, GOLFZON China will run a total of eight programs across eight cities nationwide, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Dalian, Xi’an, Xiamen, and Hefei.

This year’s program is held under the theme ‘First Swing, Reaching for a Dream.’ About 320 young participants will experience the appeal of golf firsthand at GOLFZON stores across the country, under the guidance of Liang Wenchong and a team of professional coaches.

The Liang Wenchong Holiday Public-Welfare Class is a youth golf social-contribution program first launched in 2012. Each summer vacation, it operates a nationwide free golf education program, introducing young people to golf culture and providing healthy sports experiences. To date, a variety of companies including Mercedes-Benz, FILA GOLF, and PGM have shared in the program’s mission and taken part as sponsors.

Liang Wenchong is one of the first generation of Chinese junior golfers nurtured by the Zhongshan Hot Spring Golf Club in 1993. After turning professional in 1999, he established himself as a player representing Chinese golf through his performances on domestic and international tours. He won the 2007 Singapore Masters and topped the Asian Tour Order of Merit, and at the 2008 Open Championship he became the first golfer from mainland China to make the cut at a major. He went on to finish tied for 8th at the 2010 PGA Championship, achieving the first top-10 finish at a men’s golf major by a mainland Chinese player.

Alongside his playing career, he has worked steadily to broaden the base of golf. In 2013 he was named a global ambassador for The R&A, and in 2023 he served as an ambassador for the Singapore Golf Association. He has also actively engaged in developing players, serving as head coach of the Guangdong provincial golf team and head coach of China’s men’s national golf team. He is especially known for his deep affection for the development of youth golf. Liang Wenchong has said, “I was able to grow up with the support and help of the Zhongshan Hot Spring Golf Club,” adding, “Now I want to help more children experience golf. Nurturing young people is about carrying on love and hope.”

Realize Sports, the host of this program, is a company co-founded by Liang Wenchong and others, pursuing a range of businesses aimed at popularizing golf among the public and energizing youth golf. It operates golf tournaments, golf courses and sports facilities, and develops and sells brand-collaboration products, and is also working to build out the related ecosystem through collaborations with companies in the sports and lifestyle sectors.
As a company leading China’s digital golf industry, GOLFZON China likewise continues to invest not only in technological innovation but also in spreading golf culture and engaging in sports public-welfare activities. In particular, cultivating youth golf is one of GOLFZON China’s core social-contribution activities.
Since 2020, GOLFZON China has hosted and operated various indoor youth golf tournaments, including online youth challenges and a nationwide indoor youth golf open. It is also working to build a systematic golf education system that leverages the data analysis capabilities of GOLFZON simulators. By providing not only technical instruction but also education on golf etiquette and rules, it helps young people gain a broader understanding of golf culture.

This collaboration on the ‘2024 Liang Wenchong Holiday Public-Welfare Class’ is yet another step toward broadening the base of youth golf. Through this program, GOLFZON China plans to expand opportunities for sports education and realize social value.
The eight programs operated by GOLFZON China each consist of four lessons per cohort (four half-day sessions in total), with 40 youths per session for a total of 320 participants. In particular, on the first day of each program, Liang Wenchong will visit the site in person to introduce his golf philosophy and basic techniques, and together with a professional coaching team will conduct systematic education using GOLFZON simulators. Through their very first swing, participants will experience the joy of golf and discover new dreams.
