GOLFZON Donates Golf Simulator to LA Boys & Girls Club… Offers Golf Experience with LPGA’s Alison Lee

Press Release America

Los Angeles, USA — On Monday, August 15, a special event combining technology and giving took place at the Roy W. Roberts II Watts/Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club. Above all, what brightened the venue that day were the radiant smiles of the children.

GOLFZON, a global golf simulator company, donated a state-of-the-art golf simulator and hosted the donation event, inviting GOLFZON ambassador and Los Angeles native LPGA star Alison Lee. Alison Lee visited the Boys & Girls Club alongside nine-time NBA All-Star guard Chris Paul and PGA TOUR player Gary Woodland. The GOLFZON simulator was installed in the multipurpose room, while new technology equipment from CDW was provided in the technology room.

Alison Lee, who is pursuing a degree in communications at UCLA while playing her second LPGA season, said, “If it weren’t for golf, I would never have had the chance to meet people like Chris Paul or Gary Woodland, or the opportunity to have a more positive impact on these kids,” adding, “That’s why golf is such a special sport to me.” She continued, “It was truly meaningful to be part of an event like this, where children can experience golf for the first time through the GOLFZON simulator. The kids were amazing, and it was a really joyful day for me as well.”

August 15 was the first day of school for many of the roughly 100 children who came to the Boys & Girls Club in downtown Los Angeles that afternoon. What awaited the children was a surprise visit. Through his Chris Paul Family Foundation, Chris Paul first provided the facility with new technology equipment last year together with CDW’s “Tech Fore! Kids” program, and carried out additional upgrades this week. Alison Lee, Chris Paul, and CDW ambassador Gary Woodland played golf and basketball games with the children in the gym before experiencing the GOLFZON simulator installed in the adjacent multipurpose room. The children lined up to talk with the stars and to try out the golf games and simulator provided by The First Tee.

Chris Paul, who had experienced a GOLFZON simulator before, expressed great anticipation that such an opportunity was being given to the children of the Boys & Girls Club.

Chris Paul said, “There are many kids here who haven’t heard much about golf or have never picked up a golf club,” adding, “The moment a kid hits one good shot, they can fall in love with golf just like I did.” He continued, “Many kids and adults don’t have four or five hours a day to play golf, or a golf club membership. But the simulator gives kids the chance to learn. The fact that they can take lessons and learn golf right inside this building is very meaningful to me.”

CDW, a leading provider of technology solutions and services, supplied upgraded technology equipment, including Lenovo tablets and laptops, to support administrative operations and after-school programs for local youth. The equipment will be used across a variety of programs, including mentoring, tutoring, career preparation, and the arts.

Calvin Lyons, President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles, said, “We are grateful to GOLFZON for donating the simulator,” adding, “Providing this kind of technology to children in communities where golf is typically hard to access is a great opportunity for them to learn another important skill.” He continued, “Until now, our clubs have lacked a golf element. Now the children can apply the new skills they’ve gained through golf and, based on what they learn in the process, even build great business relationships. The kids can now come here and practice freely whenever no one else is around.”

The donated state-of-the-art GOLFZON GDR golf simulator will remain installed and in operation at the facility. Staff at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles have been trained to teach the children the fundamentals of golf and how to use the simulator.

Tommy Lim, Senior Vice President of GOLFZON, who attended the event, said, “GOLFZON is proud to provide a simulator to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles,” adding, “The GOLFZON simulator offers the opportunity to experience golf, technology, math, and science together within a single system.” He continued, “Watching the children enjoy golf for the first time renewed my motivation to introduce the GOLFZON simulator and golf to even more people.”
