GOLFZON County, a total golf course management and services company led by CEO Sang Hyun Seo, announced on August 25 that it has begun operating South Links Yeongam CC, located in Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do, under the new name GOLFZON County Yeongam 45 as of August 24.
South Links Yeongam CC was developed as the first project under Solaseado, a major government-led tourism and leisure enterprise city initiative designed to promote balanced national development. The golf course features distinctive layouts by two internationally recognized golf course architects, Kyle Phillips and Jim Engh, offering golfers the opportunity to experience two unique course designs in one destination.
Located along the coast, the course is designed in a links style and reflects the site’s original natural landscape under the themes of sustainability and eco-friendly golf. Throughout the course, golfers can encounter natural wetlands, native tree species, waterways and migratory birds. Since opening in November 2019, the golf course has operated as a 45-hole public course and was the first in Korea to introduce a no-caddie, self-round system.
Beginning August 24, GOLFZON County will apply its golf course management expertise and begin introducing its proprietary operating systems and services, including its in-house F&B brand Hoshi Green and self-check-in service. By connecting GOLFZON County Yeongam 45 with its existing network of 18 golf course properties across Korea, the company plans to offer a more differentiated service experience for golfers.
Reservations for GOLFZON County Yeongam 45 are available through Tee Scanner, the smart golf booking platform operated by GOLFZON County. Reservations through the GOLFZON County website and mobile app are scheduled to open on September 1.
With the addition of this new lease operation, GOLFZON County now operates a total of 19 golf courses in Korea, comprising 432 holes across four courses in the Seoul metropolitan area, three in the central region, six in the Yeongnam region, five in the Honam region and one on Jeju Island.
Following the acquisition of Birdwood CC, now GOLFZON County Cheonan, in April 2021, and the lease operation of Dragon Lake CC, now GOLFZON County Dragon, in August 2022, GOLFZON County has continued to strengthen its presence as Korea’s largest golf course chain. With the opening of GOLFZON County Yeongam 45, the company is also operating a links-style golf course within its portfolio for the first time.
“The natural beauty of Yeongam, Jeollanam-do, shaped by the sun and the sea, provides a remarkable setting for this golf course,” said Sang Hyun Seo, CEO of GOLFZON County. “By combining the unique course environment of Yeongam CC with GOLFZON County’s services, we aim to provide golfers with an exceptional round experience.”
He added, “GOLFZON County will continue to pursue lease operations, acquisitions and other growth opportunities based on our golf course management expertise and operational know-how, while further enhancing the competitiveness of our business.”
