GOLFZON Co., Ltd. (Co-CEOs Park Kang-soo and Choi Deok-hyeong) announced on the 18th that it will host the ‘WIDE ANGLE with Bang Shin-sil Screen Golf Challenge,’ a special event offering the chance to play golf alongside pro Bang Shin-sil, KLPGA’s longest hitter, at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, March 19.
This ‘WIDE ANGLE with Bang Shin-sil Screen Golf Challenge’ is an event competition conducted through network play, GOLFZON’s unrivaled technology, and was organized so that leading domestic golf wear company WIDE ANGLE and GOLFZON can offer Korean golf fans the special experience of a screen golf round played alongside a pro golfer.
Pro Bang Shin-sil, who is sponsored by WIDE ANGLE, made her pro debut in 2022 and went on to win the 11th E1 Charity Open on the KLPGA Tour in 2023, win the KLPGA Dongbu Construction Korea Land Trust Championship in 2023, and record the season’s No. 1 longest drive on the KLPGA Tour in 2023, becoming the 9th rookie in KLPGA history to win multiple titles. With her brilliant track record and powerful shots, she has gained popularity as the ‘Queen of Long Drives’, and as this tournament takes place at the start of the full golf season, she is expected to communicate directly with fans and reveal her hidden screen golf skills and charm.
The match will be played as 18-hole stroke play on the course of the ‘Dongbu Construction Korea Land Trust Championship’ tournament that pro Bang Shin-sil won last year. On match day, pro Bang Shin-sil will play at the GOLFZON Seoul Media Studio, while members who wish to take part will join the match in network play mode at GOLFZON PARK stores nationwide equipped with TWOVISION golf simulators. The network play room name is ‘WideAngleScreenChallenge’, with up to 2,000 participants able to join.
Generous prizes have also been prepared. A total of 100 people — 70 of the match participants and 30 of the viewers, will receive WIDE ANGLE brand products worth 10 million won as prizes. The match will be broadcast live on the GOLFZON YouTube channel, and as a tournament conducted through GOLFZON network play with direct communication with everyday golf fans, it is expected to offer fresh entertainment.
Son Jang-soon, Executive Director of GOLFZON’s Media Business Division, said, “Going forward, through collaborations with various domestic companies, we will continue to present special event tournaments where fans can catch a glimpse of the screen golf skills of pros active on tours at home and abroad, contributing to the development of the screen golf tour and the golf industry.”
