Yuwon Golf Foundation Establishes Its 17th ‘Golf Academy’ at Chungnam National University

The Yuwon Golf Foundation (Chairman Kim Young-chan) held an unveiling ceremony on the 22nd for the 17th Yuwon Golf Academy, which it established at the Sports Complex of Chungnam National University.

Yuwon Golf Foundation Chairman Kim Young-chan established the 17th Yuwon Golf Academy and donated 8 GDR systems to advance university sports, strengthen local community welfare, and further promote the development of the golf industry. This Yuwon Golf Academy at Chungnam National University holds deep significance as the first to be established within a university.

The unveiling ceremony was held at the Chungnam National University Sports Complex, attended by Yuwon Golf Foundation Chairman Kim Young-chan, Chungnam National University President Kim Jung-gyeom, and other officials.

The Chungnam National University Sports Complex is a comprehensive sports facility with a total floor area of 9,664 ㎡, featuring an indoor swimming pool, a multipurpose gymnasium, a cafeteria, and more. Open not only to university members but also to local residents, it is expected to enhance academic and research competitiveness while contributing to the health and welfare of the local community. The Sports Complex is scheduled to officially open around February next year.

The Yuwon Golf Academy is a facility equipped with the GDR system, which applies cutting-edge technology such as shot data analysis and swing diagnosis and trend tracking. It is also stocked with various golf equipment, allowing use without personal gear.

All 17 academies have been established on campus, improving students’ access to golf and laying the foundation for golf talent to grow by combining professional training with their studies. Such educational infrastructure also plays an important role in the continued development of the golf industry and contributes to broadening the base of golf.

Notably, the GDR systems, facility interiors, and golf equipment required to establish the Yuwon Golf Academies were all funded at the personal expense of Yuwon Golf Foundation Chairman Kim Young-chan, with a total of 117 GDR systems donated to date.

Such donations are closely aligned with the founding purpose of the Yuwon Golf Foundation, which Chairman Kim Young-chan established in 2015 with his private funds. Since its founding with the goals of nurturing aspiring young golfers, developing the next generation of golf sports leaders, and advancing the golf industry, the Yuwon Golf Foundation has supported approximately 1,000 athletes, some of whom have gone on to become world-class golfers.

Yuwon Golf Foundation Chairman Kim Young-chan said, “Through this donation, I hope that not only students of Chungnam National University but also local residents will develop an interest in golf, and that it will serve as a catalyst for spreading golf culture throughout the local community as a whole,” adding, “GOLFZON Group will continue to make various efforts to advance the golf industry going forward.”
