GOLFZON CHINA OPEN Global Finals Coming to Chengdu in December

Sichuan-based Chinese outlet 四川在线 (Sichuan Online) reported that the fifth GOLFZON CHINA OPEN Global Finals will take place on December 17–20 at CITYGOLF Chengdu in Xindu District. This will be the first time the GOLFZON CHINA OPEN Global Finals have been held in southwestern China. The outlet said 170 top players from around the world will compete over four days, marking the international tournament debut of a digital indoor golf venue converted from a former factory.

GOLFZON CHINA OPEN Brings Professionals and Amateurs Together

According to the outlet, the GOLFZON CHINA OPEN is hosted by the China Golf Association and organized by GOLFZON CHINA, with a total prize purse of CNY 20 million. Launched in 2022, the GOLFZON CHINA OPEN has expanded to a 10-month schedule this year, with qualifying across five regions, including Asia, Europe and the Americas. The article explained that sensors and data tracking reduce dependence on outdoor locations and weather, enabling professionals and amateurs to compete within the same tournament framework.

GOLFZON CHINA OPEN Venue Transforms Former Industrial Space

The GOLFZON CHINA OPEN finals venue was developed within a former factory in the Xindu Industrial Park. Following an agreement signed in March, the space was converted into a multifunctional sports facility featuring an 18-hole digital golf course, a golf academy, tournament and event facilities, and a business networking club. Each hole combines a simulator with an artificial green, allowing players to hit long shots on the simulator before playing chips and putts on the physical green.

GOLFZON CHINA OPEN Supports New Local Sporting Experiences

The outlet described the GOLFZON CHINA OPEN as supporting the reuse of an aging factory and Xindu’s efforts to connect culture, commerce, tourism and sport through new consumer experiences. It noted that CITYGOLF can operate year-round regardless of weather, occupies less space than a conventional course and offers a more affordable playing experience. Beyond the GOLFZON CHINA OPEN, the venue is expected to provide golf instruction and recreational activities for the public and become a new local landmark.
