Edaily reported that professional golfer Jang Yu-bin, a former GOLFZON scholarship recipient, will seek his third win of the season at the KPGA Tour\u2019s GOLFZON OPEN, hosted by GOLFZON, a company with which he has long-standing ties. The GOLFZON OPEN will take place from September 17 at GOLFZON County Seonsan CC in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, where many of Korea\u2019s top golfers will compete for a total purse of KRW 1 billion, including KRW 200 million for the winner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The report noted that the tournament carries significance for Jang beyond his pursuit of a third victory this season. Jang began training at the GOLFZON Leadbetter Academy in 2016 and was later selected for the GOLFZON Scholarship Program, established to support promising young golfers in local communities. Through the program, he received systematic support as he pursued his dream of becoming a professional golfer. Even after developing into one of the leading players in Korean men\u2019s golf, Jang has continued his ties with GOLFZON.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In particular, after claiming five major honors on the 2024 KPGA Tour, including the Genesis Grand Prize and the season money title, Jang donated KRW 40 million to the Yuwon Golf Foundation to support scholarships for young golf talents. His donation carried forward the support he himself had received as a young golfer by giving back to the next generation. Against this backdrop, Edaily highlighted the significance of Jang once again competing for a title at a tournament hosted by GOLFZON, which helped provide a foundation for his development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jang currently leads the Genesis Grand Prize points standings, and the outcome of the GOLFZON OPEN could further strengthen his position in the race for the season-long title. He has also shown consistent form in recent events, including a tie for second at the Shinhan Donghae Open, drawing attention to whether he can secure his third victory of the season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside Jang, a strong field of players is set to compete for the title at the GOLFZON OPEN, including Choi Chan, who ranks among the leaders in the Genesis Grand Prize points standings, as well as Jeong Chan-min, Choi Seung-bin, Ham Jeong-woo and Kim Hong-taek.
