GOLFZON Co., Ltd. (CEO Park Kang-soo) announced on August 9 that Choi Min-wook claimed the title at the 6th Major Tournament of the “2026 Shinhan Investment Securities GTOUR,” held on Saturday, August 8, at GOLFZON ZOIMARU in Daejeon. Choi carded 9-under par in the first round and 8-under par in the second round for a final score of 17-under par, securing the major title and his 15th career GTOUR victory.

Shinhan Investment Securities, which has long supported the development of Korea’s screen golf tour, served as the main sponsor of the “2026 Shinhan Investment Securities GTOUR” 6th Major Tournament. Challenger Golfwear, Srixon, Vienna Coffee House, and MyCaddie participated as sub-sponsors, while liquor company Golden Blue joined as the Grand Prize Points sponsor. As the second major tournament of the season, GOLFZON increased the total prize purse to KRW 120 million and offered additional benefits, including GTOUR seeding privileges and entry into a KPGA Tour event, further enhancing the tournament’s competitiveness.

The competition was held in Tour Mode on the TwoVision NX Plus simulator and consisted of two rounds of 36-hole stroke play over one day. GOLFZON’s newly launched TwoVision NX Plus features an AI spin sensor designed to reproduce spin and ball-flight characteristics more closely to actual course conditions, enhancing the overall sense of realism. Together with upgraded course graphics, the system delivers a more detailed round experience, from shot results and ball trajectories to the surrounding course environment, allowing both players and spectators to experience the enhanced appeal of the screen golf tour.

The tournament was played on the No. 4 course at Cockhill Golf Club, a challenging championship layout well suited to a major tournament. With bunkers strategically positioned around landing areas, accurate tee shots were essential, while steep green slopes and challenging undulations required players to carefully plan their approaches and putting strategies. Play on and around the greens ultimately proved decisive, making the variety of strategies adopted by the players one of the key highlights of the tournament.

A total of 88 players competed in the first round, including GTOUR’s highly skilled seeded players, whose level of competition has continued to rise each season, as well as numerous KPGA-recommended players. Following the cut, 64 players advanced to continue the fierce competition for the major title.

As the sixth tournament of the season was a major event, the dramatic battle for the lead that continued until the final hole became one of the tournament’s biggest highlights. Choi Min-wook entered the final round four strokes behind the leader and opened with a bogey on the first hole. He did not record another bogey for the remainder of the round, however, and went on to card nine birdies to finish at 17-under par and claim the major title.

In particular, Choi maintained his composure throughout the back nine despite several players sharing the lead at various points. His strong putting proved decisive, including a successful 0.8-meter birdie putt on the 17th hole, ultimately leading him to his 15th career GTOUR victory.

Yoon Jae-in, who entered the final round as the sole leader, lost several strokes following mistakes on the early holes but showed his determination to bounce back in the next tournament. KPGA Tour professional Kim Han-byul, who has continued to show strong form on the GTOUR since returning from military service, finished tied for second alongside Soon Ji-ho, Lee Seong-hoon, and Yeom Don-woong.

Yeom Don-woong, who secured a last-minute spot in the tournament through the offline qualifier for the major, drew loud cheers from the gallery after recording an albatross on the 15th hole of the final round. Ha Gi-won, Shim Hyun-woo, Park Chan-hee, and many other players also entertained spectators with impressive shot-making throughout the tournament.

With admission open to the public free of charge, GOLFZON ZOIMARU in Daejeon was filled with spectators looking to experience the screen golf tour firsthand. Various on-site events, photo zones, and refreshments were provided for visitors. Interest in the sixth-round prediction event was also high thanks to a strong field that included KPGA Tour professionals, while more than 10,000 viewers tuned in to the live YouTube broadcast, reflecting the growing popularity of the GTOUR.

At the awards ceremony following the tournament, Choi received KRW 25 million in prize money, 3,000 Grand Prize points, and the iconic GTOUR blue jacket. As an additional benefit awarded to the major tournament champion, he also earned a three-year GTOUR seed, including the current season, as well as entry into the KPGA “GOLFZON Open,” scheduled to take place at GOLFZON COUNTY Seonsan from September 17 to 20.

Winner Choi Min-wook said, “I would like to thank GOLFZON and Shinhan Investment Securities for hosting the tournament, as well as all the sponsors for their generous support.”

He added, “I am also preparing to compete on the top-tier tour, and the TwoVision NX Plus system was very helpful because its sensors accurately replicate on-course ball flight. This season, I will work to perform well both on screen and on the course, with the goal of winning both the GTOUR money title and the Grand Prize.”

Meanwhile, information on the history of the GOLFZON GTOUR, Korea’s leading screen golf tour now celebrating its 15th anniversary, as well as tournament information, player records, and highlights from previous events, is available on the official website.

GOLFZON Co., Ltd.
