China Daily reported that a grand ceremony celebrating the world’s first launch of the GOLFZON CITY GOLF course was held on September 13, 2024, at the Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center in Tianjin. The report stated that key figures attended to mark the official opening of the GOLFZON Tianjin CITY GOLF course, including He Fengxiang, President of the China Golf Association, officials from the Tianjin Municipal Sports Bureau, former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kong Xuanyou, GOLFZON China Chairman Park Young-jo, and GOLFZON China Director Park Sung-bong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report noted that the GOLFZON Tianjin CITY GOLF course is located in the V-TOWN Sports Town on the 3rd floor of Phase 2 of the Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center, covering an area of 13,000 square meters and capable of operating year-round. It described the facility as an innovative concept that brings a traditional suburban 18-hole golf course spanning thousands of acres into an indoor urban space, with each hole consisting of a GOLFZON TwoVision NX simulator and a real short-game area including an artificial green. According to the report, play proceeds via the simulator until reaching the short-game area, after which putting and approach shots are completed in the real short-game area, creating a structure that organically combines digital and real golf. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report stated that GOLFZON China Director Park Sung-bong called the GOLFZON CITY GOLF course “a milestone achievement in the development of the global digital sports industry,” adding that it would provide athletic experiences and a healthy lifestyle and serve as a new platform for popularizing golf and spreading its culture. The article also stated that an official from the Tianjin Municipal Sports Bureau assessed that the GOLFZON CITY GOLF course would create new scenes of sports consumption as a new quality productive force in digital sports and contribute to building Tianjin into a strong sports city and a city of exercise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report explained that GOLFZON currently operates a three-brand system comprising RANGE, PARK, and CITY GOLF, with CITY GOLF positioned at the top of the lineup and aiming to become a new urban landmark. The article stated that the GOLFZON CITY GOLF course is drawing attention as an ESG case study thanks to its low land footprint, construction, maintenance and operating costs, and replicable business model.
