STERLING, Va. \u2014 GOLFZON announced that it will host the first GOLFZON America Simulator Championship over five weeks beginning Monday, December 11. Winners will be selected across a total of eight categories, with the final results to be announced on Sunday, January 14, 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is no entry fee for this inaugural competition. To take part, participants create an account at globalgolfzon.com, then log in to the simulator at a participating GOLFZON location to join the event. Participants may play multiple rounds, and the competition is managed online across GOLFZON locations throughout North America. Standings can be checked in real time through the simulator and at globalgolfzon.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participating locations are set up across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. In the United States, participating venues include Paragon Sports Center in Duluth, Georgia; Novo Golf Tappan in Tappan, New York; Trump National Bedminster in Bedminster Township, New Jersey; Swing Zone in Tomball, Texas; CompuGolf in Carrollton, Texas; Power of the Golf Ball in Northfield, Illinois; White Pines Golf Dome in Bensenville, Illinois; Miles of Golf in Ypsilanti, Michigan; and Olympic Golf in Fullerton, California. In Canada, participants include Golf Wing in Markham, Ontario; Golf Square in Langley, British Columbia; Golfplay Kitchener in Kitchener, Ontario; and On Screen Sports in Welland, Ontario. In Mexico, Mulligan’s Swings & Drinks in San Pedro Garza Garc\u00eda is taking part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants are eligible for awards in a total of eight categories. The award categories are: lowest score ranking, longest drive, nearest to the pin, scores equal to or closest to 77, 88, 99, and 111, and most rounds played. Multiple awards are not permitted; if a single participant qualifies in several categories, that participant will receive only the single highest-value prize, and the runner-up in that category will receive the first-place prize for another category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The overall first-place winner will receive a travel voucher worth $2,000, and prizes will also be awarded to the top 10 in the stroke ranking. In total, more than $10,000 in travel vouchers, electronics, golf equipment, and other prizes have been prepared for the entire competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each GOLFZON location is also eligible for awards. GOLFZON will tally the number of rounds played at each GOLFZON location across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and award the top three locations a Hitachi projector, an Apple MacBook, and an Apple iPad Pro, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tommy Lim, CEO of GOLFZON America, said, “As this type of competition becomes an increasingly familiar format for golfers in the United States as well, we are proud to host the first GOLFZON America Simulator Championship.” He added, “Simulator golf has played an important role in introducing people to the game in Korea, GOLFZON’s home country, and recent figures suggest there is a great opportunity to achieve a similar effect here.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He continued, “According to a survey GOLFZON conducted in 2015, 80% of new golfers in Korea started golf through simulation golf. This includes cases of numerous PGA TOUR and LPGA players who successfully took up the game.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the past two years, GOLFZON has hosted the GOLFZON International Tournament at GOLFZON Joymaru, its headquarters located in Daejeon, South Korea. Last September, 12 players representing South Africa, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, China, Australia, and the United States competed for $13,000 in award benefits and the title of GOLFZON World Champion. The tournament was held over two rounds: the first round was played on the digital Anseong Q course in Joymaru’s state-of-the-art Simulator Stadium, and the second round was played on the actual Anseong Q course. Han Xue Gang of China won the 2017 championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
GOLFZON also plans to participate on a large scale in the PGA Merchandise Show, held in Orlando, Florida, from January 23 to 26, 2018. On Tuesday, January 23, it will take part in Demo Day for the first time, and from January 24 to 26 it plans to showcase two simulators at booth 3251 in the exhibition hall at the Orange County Convention Center.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
